Auburn Ride: A Johnny Delarosa Thriller (The Delarosa Series)

Winner! 2017 Mystery/Thriller of the Year ~ Maryland Writer's Association! Private investigator Johnny Delarosa has seen it all — twenty years on the Port City Police Department will do that. Cheating spouses, insurance scams, and embezzlements pay the bills. He has seen worse. Then an auburn-haired woman with vivid green eyes walks into his bar and drops a twenty-thousand-dollar retainer on the table. She wants him to find two million dollars stolen from her family by the mob thirty years ago. All she has are two names. It seems straightforward. It is not. Old wise guys come out of the woodwork. Bodies start accumulating. And by the time Johnny understands what his client actually hired him to do — and what she has been planning all along — the ride has already cost him more than he bargained for. Auburn Ride is the first novel in David Stever’s Johnny Delarosa series — hardboiled crime fiction with a sharp wit and a city that feels like home.
