David’s Delight; Our Delight: An Intimate Study of Psalm 27 and the Character of God: Delighting in the Lord Bible Study

What does it mean to delight in the LORD? David knew the answer. From a young shepherd boy seeking the presence of God in the hillsides of Judah to the many battlefields as a soldier, and ultimately to the throne of Israel, David delighted in God’s sustaining presence. He lived each day beholding the beauty of the LORD. His heart rested in God’s unfailing character, where he found strength, guidance, and peace. When was the last time you pondered the depths of God’s character? Do you consider not only who He is but also the vastness and fullness of His attributes? You can study the Bible and learn about God both in truth and theology, but what does it look like to truly live and experience His presence in everyday moments—to delight in Him—regardless of the circumstances of your life? In this unique 9-session study of Psalm 27, we will look intimately into David’s psalm and examine how his life testified to what he penned for us. As we study this psalm, each session will focus on one of the following character qualities of the LORD expressed by David. May we declare as David did, “The one thing I ask of the LORD—the thing I seek most—is to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, delighting in the LORD’s perfections and meditating in His temple” (Psalm 27:4 NLT).
