Diplomat Heroes of the Holocaust

Paldiel directs The Righteous Among the Nations Department at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Institute in Israel. Here he profiles some two dozen non-Jews serving in various diplomatic capacities who used their official positions to save many Jews during World War II, often against the indifference or outright opposition of their superiors. The accounts are arranged geographically, with Germany and Budapest most highly represented. Annotation ©2007 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
