Townhall has experience that includes Rock, Reggae, Jazz, Blues, Funk, Folk and Latin and are influenced by great songwriters and exceptional musicians such as Bob Marley, The Band, Stevie Wonder and Miles Davis just to name a few. Townhall brings together a diverse musical background and melded these sounds into something entirely new. Townhall masters every instrument they play. All five members of Townhall were jazz majors when they met at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. With the sole exception of Smidt, who hails from Los Angeles, Townhall is homegrown in Philadelphia, PA. Each member of the band has played music from a very young age and honed his skills independently and with different ensembles and distinguished musicians. What started as frequent jam sessions quickly turned into a musical bond that would be the foundation for Townhall.
