When it all comes crashing down, and the road ahead seems just too hard, how do you get back up again? Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is a leading cause of death and disability in the United States. While much of the attention may rest on the patient during the acute life-saving and immediate rehabilitation phase, once that patient is stabilized and out of round the clock care, the work of living in a new reality must begin. In this book, we explore the vital role of post-acute care in TBI, and the real stories of patients who have benefited from it in a variety of forms. While external injuries may heal, the TBI patient is often left with internal scars that still need a great deal of gentle care and attention.
